Does anyone else notice the bullshit concerning gas prices? The prices were going up at a steep rate before Hurricane Katrina. Katrina was just an excuse to raise them and now with Rita hitting the gulf we are hearing another song and dance about refineries being damaged or possibly damaged BEFORE the storm made landfall. Do they think we are stupid?
The destruction in the Southern gulf states is horrific. The aftermath may be worse. Poverty, loss of business, disease, crime. The effects will be felt for decades. As we saw living in a welfare state removes peoples willingness and ability to fend for themselves. Angry people shot at police and rescuers, looted and terrorised each other. New Orleans will not only be remembered as a tragedy but, also a shame. Nothing will ever be the same again.
